Challenger Profile

I have been a supporter of Compassion for 10 years now. I sponsor 6 children in Tanzania so it was a "no-brainer" to take part in this challenge.

Those of you who know me well know I don’t set myself easy targets – most people who take up running for the first time aim to do a 5 or 10k, not me, I signed up for a half marathon in 2015.  In keeping with this I have decided that I am going to take on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in 2020 which just happens to be the year I turn FORTY.

This my dear friends and family is where you all come in.  Instead of having a big party I would really appreciate your help achieving my fundraising target of £2, 000.  The funds raised will be going towards building 34 homes in Rwanda for moms and their new born babies who are part of Compassion's Child Survival Programme.

This is an epic challenge for me, not least because I am not the fittest person on the planet but also because my training will be impacted by Fibromyalgia.  I am NOT going to let that stop me and the thought of reaching the summit and meeting my 6 sponsor kids are keeping me hugely motivated.  The trip to Tanzania will be from 27 February to 8 March 2020 with the actual trek up Kilimanjaro being from 1 to 6 March 2020.
