I've been sponsoring children through Compassion for over 17 years. I've found it very rewarding and such a blessing to receive and send letters to my sponsored child, and to see their progress as they grow up and move through the Compassion curriculum.

I had the privilege some years ago of being able to visit my first child, in El Salvador and that was a wonderful experience! These pictures of me were taken in El Salvador. The one on the left is at a volcanic site, the one on the right is at the back of my sponsored girl's home. You will notice how 'makeshift' the building is. I'm looking at the drop from the top of the hill, which is literally only a few feet from her home.

I'm taking part in the Philippines 2020 Challenge because it is a very interesting and exciting way to raise money for the Compassion Projects in the Philippines, as well as raise awareness of Compassion. This challenge is particularly aimed at the Mother and Baby Survival Intervention Programme. There is a need for many more people to sponsor underprivileged children in the Countries where Compassion operates.

This challenge will also hopefully provide me with an opportunity to meet my third sponsored girl, who graduated in October 2019.

I will be walking 42K (26 Miles), but depending on my level of fitness nearer the time, I may decide to walk 63K (40 miles)!
