My name is Debbie Wattis. I have one husband, four sons and two dogs. I live near Coventry but despite this I try and find the fun in everything!
For most of my life I have struggled with my weight. But last year I faced it head on resulting in me losing 75lbs. The emotional journey I went through was massive, the habits I broke were so ingrained and my thinking had to be totally transformed. Previously I would wallow in self pity, idlely go about each day not really pushing myself. I felt inadequate and unworthy. Now I have dealt with those feelings and banished them from my life. I am loved, accepted and valued. I am also healthier, stronger and lighter!
Having been on this life changing journey over the past year, I now want to help others with the same level of determination and energy. So I find myself running a half-marathon in Rwanda for Compassion! Who'd have thought!!! I have never done anything like this before and would never have imagined I could ever even give it a go. Before last year I would get out of breath just walking upstairs!
I am under no illusion this will be a massive challenge but I am excited to be given the opportunity to raise support for Compassion.
