Compassion Challenges -Emma Miles

Challenger Profile

Name:

Emma Miles

Challenge Date:

January 2018

My Challenge:

Last year was a great success when I completed Ironman Wales and the Great South Run for Compassion.

This January I have joined the #6kyourway challenge. 6km is widely regarded as the average distance an individual living in a developing country has to walk to fetch clean water. As a result I will be covering at least 6km every day in January through various means such as swimming, running, walking, cycling and even sledging!

A keen swimmer, I occasionally dabble in other sports, usually for charity! Married to Alex, we live in Scotland but spend most of our time in separate places around the UK for work, meeting up at weekends to share life and our love of sport and food :).

I grew up in a family that sponsored children a similar age to me that I would write to as pen pals. As soon as I was able to, I sponsored a child too.

The work that Compassion does to support children, their families and communities is fantastic. Your sponsorship and donations allow children to go to school where previously they would have had to work, access to medical care and, most importantly, the support of a loving community which will build them up in their faith and equip them with the skills to move forward in their lives and lift them and their families out of poverty.

Being part of this journey is an incredible opportunity and privilege and that is why I am challenging myself this year to go the #extramile to change this world, one child at a time.
