This is my first (maybe last) marathon so the accountability of running for charity is great!
I first got involved with compassion after hearing a podcast with a lady who had grown up as a "compassion child" - meaning, growing up she had been involved with a compassion project in her hometown in Indonesia. It was a joy to hear her discuss how the project sought to relieve the physical poverty for her/her family but also taught her the good news of the hope found in Jesus. This is something I can get behind!
A marathon has been a personal goal for a while, but coupling this with raising awareness of compassion and hopefully raising extra funds for their valuable work adds extra motivation!
Money you donate goes to helping mothers and babies coming through Compassion's child survival program, in Rwanda. The aim is to provide clean and safe homes, to give families living in poverty the best possible start in life.
Alternatively, rather than a one off donation, you may feel able to consider making an ongoing donation to "sponsor" a child to support them throughout their childhood through one of many compassion projects, see their website for more details of what this entails/select this option as your donation.
