My Challenge:

The Ethiopian Startup initiative is being launched to transform the lives of upto 863 caregivers of Compassion -supported children in eastern Ethiopia.

These caregivers currently rely on unreliable sources of income, such as informal labour and petty trading. But through this and other initiatives, we will be able to provide the caregivers with startup funds and training to start their own small businesses and develop a sustainable source of income for themselves; helping them provide for all of their children’s basic needs.

I am a father of 5 children who has been privileged to have been born in the UK, received education and now I’m a professional in the engineering sector.

After a few decades break, I started running again in my 50’s mainly as a way of walking our dog Levi and to keep fit. This will be my first ever marathon and the greatest physical challenge of my life!

My family & I decided to sponsor Daphine from Uganda in response to a Compassion UK campaign at our church. I now want to make a difference to even more lives by raising money for the Ethiopian Startup campaign by taking part in this year’s London Marathon in April

Have a good run on the day and enjoy the atmosphere. Sliders seem to be a great choice post run from being a spectator at the last London marathon. Will be praying for you.
