A little about me...hhhmm
I am a daughter, sister, wife, mum, medic...
I love Jesus and I love children. I have been a child sponsor with Compassion for years but I think it is time to go the extra mile! ;)
Isn't it amazing that ordinary people make an extraordinary difference? Through your donations and child sponsorships, we can together make a difference, one child at a time.
Globally, about 387 million children are living in extreme poverty with the majority living in subsaharan Africa (UNICEF). I believe that extreme poverty can be eradicated if we all make a commitment to do our bit to help those who are less fortunate than we are. I have read many inspiring Compassion stories from many countries about how a little can go a long way in changing the lives of these children. For me, being a child sponsor has been a great experience and a blessing as my sponsored children have grown and developed into young people with a bright future. It only costs about 80p a day!! The cost of a small bar of chocolate can have a destiny-changing impact on the life of a child. They receive support with their education, nutrition, health, vocational skills and spiritual development. I took up this challenge because for every child who is sponsored there is a positive ripple effect on their families and communities as well. A little does go a long way. I am not athletic and I don't have running experience but I am training for the 21 K run to raise at least 5 sponsors and at least £5000 in funds (hopefully more!) which will all go towards releasing children from poverty. YOU can be the miracle that a child needs right now!
Furthermore, some of the funds will go towards a Solar Powered Light Initiative that will provide solar lamps to 1,500 rural families. One lamp costs £62. Having a sustainable light source will allow them to spend their meagre income on other necessities like food.
Can I just say thank you very much in anticipation of your generous donations and sponsorship.
