Compassion Challenges -Mike Briggs

Challenger Profile

Mike Briggs

Challenge Date:

May to July 2024

My Challenge:

I’m walking across the full 100km width of Togo for Compassion. Well, I’m doing it virtually! I am planning to do much of this in England, in several counties. But I will be thinking of the great work of Compassion whilst on holiday and I hope to do some of the walking in European countries I’m visiting this spring.

Sponsored Target:

Online Total: £40.00

Offline Total: £0.00

Gift Aid: £5.00

I’m really passionate about the work of Compassion UK in Togo and elsewhere, and so this is a challenge that really matters.

The education of children is so important, giving them knowledge, life skills and helping lift them out of poverty. However, Togo’s educational resources are limited. Many young people have access to few books and no internet. As a result, they can’t progress onto higher education and miss out on the stable income that a graduate job secures.

Compassion Togo is close to completing a youth resource centre in Togo’s capital Lomé. This will enable 500 young people to continue learning and pursue their dreams.

But it needs funding. That’s why I’m taking on Compassion UK’s Togo 100km Virtual Challenge.

Over three months, I will walk 100km. A mix of places, but hopefully all recorded on Strava.

I want to raise at least £1 for each kilometre walk.

I’m up for the challenge. Will you help me to help children in Togo?
