Hello my name is Kwabena, Im a down to earth sort of guy, Love God to bit's, always ready to listen, talk or help where i can, I have a great wife who is so supportive (sometimes i think she thinks im superman), as she always encourages me to reach my full potential, we have two beautiful grown up daughters, & a Granddaughter (whos 14).
i enjoy challenge's, especially when someone says you can't do it or it's very difficult...bring it on has always been my motto.
I chose to take on the challenge of running my first marathon in my 50's to test my abilities and to show that being over 50 does not mean you are over the hill,
Anyone who knows me knows I'm always up for a challenge, so this came as a great joy to me as i have waited a long time to run a Marathon, I have done a few half marathons in my time with a reasonable time, but this is defiantly a tough challenge which i shall overcome, by hard work, dedication and a lot of prayer ;-) I'm really excited about this challenge as it does a number of things (1) It Helps to lessen poverty in the world, (2), Make's you and I the person who helped Jesus (Matthew 25:40), (3) pushes me to achieve a lifelong dream.
A bit of background about me I have done a few challenges in my life, like London to Brighton Bike ride for sickle cell (did this for 7 years), A number of Half marathon race for Great Ormond street children's hospital, Ice bucket challenge for Children in need & Cutting off my Dread-Locks (which i had been growing for over 10 years) for WaterAid & Trinity Hope Orphanage in Ghana, Climbed to the Highest point of Kilimanjaro (Uhuru Peak 5895 meters) to name a few....
I'm taking part in this challenge because it has always been a life long desire to run a marathon in my 50's while helping to raise money for a children's charity, so the children can have a brighter future, So why not Compassion uk, as i know first hand the work they do for the children in their care, also it's a great opportunity to get at least 2 children sponsored, God say's in Jeremiah 29:11 NLT Bible "I Know the plans i have for you, plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope"
Can you imagine being part of that plan for the children to have a better future and you don't do anything about it....
