Challenger Profile
Name:
Joy Wilson
Challenge Date:
6th-14th May 2023
My Challenge:
Ethiopia Challenge 2023 (postponed from 2020 due to pandemic).
My challenge is to run 10k in the streets and countryside near one of the projects (Iβm not a fan of running although I would rather run in 30 degrees than UK rain - I think!)
I will be travelling with a great team of sponsors for the week and will have a chance to visit Compassion's projects in various places, host a sports day and spend time with my sponsored children!

I know that this trip is going to blow my mind in so many ways, I shall come back changed. I usually try to avoid situations that involve physical challenges and certainly situations that may make me cry - so I donβt know if Iβll be able to hold myself together when I meet my children but it will be worth it!ππ
Please note that I am paying all my own costs so ALL money raised goes straight towards the child survival project! We can enable it to continue for another year, or two, or three, or more - depending on everyoneβs generosity! Your donation helps support a small team that supplies vulnerable pregnant women with support and practical help such as vitamins, even until their child is aged one ππΌ
Please consider sponsoring a child too - if youβd like to write to that child regularly and encourage them. If you would like to sponsor a child in Ethiopia, it can be arranged that I meet them whilst there, and I can take them videos of you greeting them, gifts from yourself, photos etc! And can bring back some photos/video to you too!!
I am going to Ethiopia because I want to meet the children we and my wider family have been sponsoring (we sponsor a child in lieu of buying each other Christmas presents - the adults that is, on my side of the family)
Mulatu was the first. Heβs now grown up, trained as a doctor, married and I will meet his toddler too πππ
After Mulatu graduated, we sponsored Jinus who has moved away so we then sponsored Abdirazak who will be 6 when I meet him and his family!
Itβs all terribly exciting but I need your support as I shall be away from my family for the longest time ever, have never run a significant distance in my life, and most importantly - have a massive financial target to reach!!!
