Challenger Profile

Joy Wilson

Challenge Date:

18th - 25th September 2020

My Challenge:

Ethiopia Challenge 2020

My challenge is to run 10k in the streets and countryside near one of the projects (I’m not a fan of running although I would rather run in 30 degrees than UK rain - I think!)

I will be travelling with a great team of sponsors for the week and will have a chance to visit Compassion's projects in various places, host a sports day and spend time with my sponsored children!

Sponsored Target:

Online Total: £155.00

Offline Total: £0.00

Gift Aid: £38.75

You can check out my video on for more details on why I am doing this challenge.

I know that this trip is going to blow my mind in so many ways, I shall come back changed. I usually try to avoid situations that make me cry but I don’t know if I’ll be able to hold myself together when I meet my children 😭😭

Please note that I am paying all my own costs so ALL money raised goes straight towards the child survival project! We can enable it to continue for another year, or two, or three, or more - depending on everyone’s generosity!

Please consider sponsoring a child too - if you’d like to write to that child regularly and encourage them. If you would like to sponsor a child in Ethiopia, it can be arranged that I meet them whilst there, and I can take them videos of you greeting them, gifts from yourself, photos etc! And take some photos/video myself too, for you!!

I am going to Ethiopia because I want to meet the children we and my wider family have been sponsoring (we sponsor a child in lieu of buying each other presents - the adults that is, on my side of the family)

Mulatu was the first. He’s now grown up, trained as a doctor, married and by then will have a newborn for me to meet too 😍😍😍

After Mulatu graduated, we sponsored Jinus and she will be about to graduate when I meet her. So, all being well, I will also be able to meet our new sponsored child too!

It’s all terribly exciting but I need your support as I shall be away from my family for the longest time ever, have never run a significant distance in my life, and most importantly - have a massive financial target to reach!!!

Hi Joy ... Money is tight, but I believe people are their actions. Which go beyond words. I hope you make the money you need 💕
