Hi! I'm Fiona, mum of two sons, retired paediatric Speech and Language Therapist and sponsor of two lovely children, Negash, aged 6 and Cicilia, aged 11. I am so impressed by how they are personally supported and nurtured through the Compassion organisation.
I love receiving letters from them, feeling significantly involved in their lives and knowing that their God given potential has a chance to flourish. I smile every time an envelope from Compassion drops onto my mat!
This Compassion Challenge trip to Ethiopia seems to be a wonderful opportunity to see their work up close whilst helping them in their quest to make life changing differences to vulnerable children, born onto abject poverty through no fault of their own.
I am especially excited because I may meet my little Negash, as Ethiopia is his home country!
I will be running 10k....however, although I am quite fit, I'm more of a cyclist than a runner, especially in heat and at altitude! I've also had bilateral bunion surgery but, 2 years on, my feet are still pretty sore. So any sponsorship (cash or child, see tabs and links on this page) to encourage me to ignore the pain (and my dislike of running) and to focus on the finish line will be hugely appreciated!
