Great Newham London Run - July 2017
Challenge Information
All runners in the 10k will get the chance to have their very own Olympic moment as they finish inside the Stadium and cross the same famous finish line as Olympic greats Usain Bolt, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Mo Farah. The course will also take in the sights of Lee Valley VeloPark, the London Aquatics Centre and the Copper Box Arena.
Compassion Challenges have ten places to give away and are looking for general ballot runners to join the team.
DATE: 2 July 2017
DISTANCE: 10k
LOCATION: Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London, UK
AGE: 15 years old and over
FUNDRAISING TARGET: £250 or 2 children sponsored
Our Compassion Challenges team will be raising funds for mosquito nets at Compassion projects in Uganda.
It costs just £4.50 to provide a child with an insecticide-treated net that could save their life.
Across the child development centres it works with, Compassion Uganda has observed that the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in registered children is malaria. In fact, Uganda has among the highest incidences of malaria in the world; approximately 70,000 to 100,000 children die of the disease annually.
The money raised will go towards providing 9,300 individuals across 20 centres in Bugiri, Busia, Iganga and Pallisa with PermaNets®, the insecticide-treated nets recommended by the Ugandan Ministry of Health.
